Can someone tape conversations with a hidden tape recorder without consent then use that as evidence in a case?
Let's say they get invited for dinner, and the person has a recording device recording their conversation to use in a case against them as evidence of things they state. Another time they secretly video taped a conversation with a camera device without their knowledge in his home.

It all depends on what state you are in, but most states require 2 party knowledge of any recordings to be legal.
ADDITIONAL:
In that case, in Cali, no. They cannot record you without your consent. To do so would be illegal itself.
